CREATIVE MIND PRESCHOOL
Dana Chidekel, PhD A Psychological Corporation
I am a board-certified pediatric neuropsychologist in private practice. I provide comprehensive assessments to children and young adults who are struggling in individual subjects in school, with testing, or in managing schoolwork in a more general way; who are having problems in social relationships with peers, community members or family members; and/or who are not able to regulate their behavior and emotional lives in satisfying and adaptive ways. My goal goes beyond determining the label(s) for "diagnosis." My goal is to help parents, educators, mental health professionals and children understand WHY a child is struggling. Things that look like what a child "won't do" may actually be things a child "can't do." Or not. In either case, to figure out the interventions and accommodations that will help (and which ones won't), it is critical to clarify what is giving rise to the problems to begin with. A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of a child's neurocognitive, academic and emotional function should do just that. Parents should emerge from the process feeling, "I really understand my child." They should leave with a report that is written in plain English, so anyone with whom it is shared will understand the child as well, and feel empowered with that understanding to provide any accommodations or services that are recommended.

H.E.R.O. (Helpful Educational Resource Organization)
I provide a multisensory approach to the teaching of reading to students who struggle with a traditional "one size fits all" approach that most schools provide. With a focus on presenting all aspects of literacy instruction including vocabulary development, and writing skills, my students have experienced tremendous success. I work one on one with students of all ages to bring their literacy skills to grade level. I hold a California Teaching Credential in English, a Preliminary Special Education Credential and a Masters in Education with a Reading Specialist Credential. I have been teaching reading (and all of the skills related to reading) for the past ten years along with experience teaching English in both private and public schools. I can provide references from current and former families. I noticed that there is a "Saved Schools" button. My husband, two of our neighbors and I were the original group of parents who started a grass roots movement to make our local public school, Lanai Road School, a neighborhood school since it was 98% bused in 1998. Today it is one of the top LAUSD schools in the Los Angeles area. I have launched several campaigns to collect gentle used book and donate them to schools who need them. I involved my students in this campaign by having them collect books and write letters to the students who received these books.

Save a Little Life
Save A Little Life” was founded by Richard Pass, RN, BS in 1999. Richard’s goal was to provide a simpler, more “user friendly” CPR course where the focus would be on learning simple techniques and skills based on the guidelines of the American Heart Association. The program took off when Richard teamed with The Pump Station in Santa Monica where his courses are still offered on a regular basis. This led to an expansion of his courses to include locations such as A Mother’s Haven in Encino, Dragon Fly Dulou in Los Feliz, The Pump Connection in Sherman Oaks, The Birth Sanctuary in West Los Angeles and, over the years, other family-based retail stores in the L.A. area. Additionally, Save a Little Life works with many companies large and small to make sure everyone is prepared for the unthinkable. Private courses in-home and in-business have become a large part of the courses offered.
